Photographer Sonja Hess-Ranelius (b. 1975) creates conceptually-grounded projects that explore life in the margins of society and connection to place. Presentation formats include prints for exhibition and photo books. Sonja received her BA in Creative Writing from the University of Puget Sound in 1997 and her MFA in Fine Art Photography from Academy of Art University in 2024. She is emerging as a distinct visual artist in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
